"Getting us all to ask better questions is what it's all about!" Special thanks to Left Wing with the U.S. AirForce Thunderbirds Pilot #2, Major Ryan Bodenheimer, for his time and insights today. Before becoming a Thunderbird, Ryan served an F-15E pilot with over 300 combat hours and 1,400 flight hours as an air force pilot!
Maj. Bondenheimer took the time to answer questions from Lexi - and shared how watching the Thunderbirds as a kid encouraged him to think more and ask better questions -- including "how does a jet go that fast". When asked what inspired him to pursue a career as a prestigious Thunderbird - he shared that after serving with combat forces, he interviewed with the Thunderbirds -- and after watching the power of an F16 jet take off, then the destruction of 9/11 ... he desired to find a way to not only serve our great country, but also do something incredible. Maj. Bodenheimer finds his job fulfilling and embraces his opportunity to inspire 1,000's of people to be the "best version of themselves" and show that "when we work together, we can accomplish great things". He's on a mission to inspire and that's what he did for us today -- we can't wait to see the team in action this weekend! We'll be watching for #2!
The Thunderbirds participate in 70 airshows a year, including this weekends Wings Over Pittsburgh 2017 airshow this Saturday and Sunday! Watch the team fly just 200 feet above ground at over 600MPH! The first airshow at the 911th airlift wing in 6 years --- a great FREE family event!
Lexi just had to pose for a photo -- with her CO hoodie -- since Maj. Bodenheimer hails from Colorado Springs! What a cool guy and we THANK YOU for your service!
