Faith Based Family Counseling   Mission: Building hope and understanding through faith-based counseling and support services for youth, adults, couples, and families in our communities. In 1966, North Hills Area churches created Anchorpoint Counseling Ministry (formerly the North Hills Youth Ministry Counseling Center) as a non-denominational outreach ministry to teens. Moving from this emphasis on teens, in 1982 the ministry began working with parents, the primary influence determining the health and well-being of the family. What about today? Anchorpoint Counseling Ministry now provides professional counseling services for individuals, youth, families, and couples. We have: Parenting education classes and workshops Discussion groups for parents of teens 40 Developmental Asset education and Act 48 professional training for schools Tutoring/mentoring (Youth Development Program) Bereavement support groups Master's level Clinical Internship program Uninsured clients pay on a sliding scale fee basis. Center for Grieving Children, Adolescents and Their Families   The Highmark Caring Place is dedicated to grieving children and families, working to ensure that they find hope. The Caring Place champions the cause of grieving children by creating awareness of their needs, providing programs for grieving children and families and empowering the community to effectively serve grieving children. Groups are offered at no cost to children ages birth through high school graduation and their families.    Researchers at UPMC are looking for healthy men and women 35-60 years of age with blood pressures in the high-normal range (systolic 120-139 &/or diastolic 80-89) to participate in a research study of how the brain changes with change in blood pressure. Participants must NOT have hypertension, heart or blood vessel disease, insulin dependent diabetes, or a chronic medical, physical or psychiatric disease requiring medication. Participants will attend 3 sessions in a month's time each session lasting approximately 2 hours, 1 session will include an MRI. Payment at the completion of these sessions will be $150. Additionally, we will monitor your blood pressure over the next two years. At the end of this time you will be asked to repeat the 3 sessions mentioned above for additional compensation.
